Can't leave him alone..

I had a previous commitment, so I made a quick sweep of the Afton auction, pointed out a box of books I would like, then left Tim alone with some money, at an auction...needless to say, he managed to find a number of things to buy.

He did get the box of books, plus some bottles and a cat figurine for me. He also bought a moon and stars compote for himself. Finally, he picked up a Lenox vase and frame, a Shawnee planter, some kitchen utensils, an end table, and a bunch of accompanying stuff that we need to go through...

We moved into our expanded booth at The Strip Mall; it involved a bit more rearranging than we planned, but it looks pretty good. Tomorrow we'll plan to move additional items, mainly our Frankoma pieces.

Tomorrow also brings our move into Connie's Antiques. We've picked some really nice items to put there, including our Beleek and Lladro.

And no Friday would be complete without the Joplin auction...busy day!

Friday and Saturday Auctions and a Tough Decision...

We recently had to make a tough decision about our business. We've been doing pretty well at The Strip Mall, and not well at all at Copper Creek, so we've given notice at Copper Creek that, if we don't do well this month, we'll be leaving at the end of July. On the other had, we are optimistic about our performance at The Strip Mall and have committed to another sixteen square feet of space adjacent to our current space. We're also committed to expanding our online presence at Bonanzle.com.

We went to the Friday auction in Joplin, Missouri, and managed to find a few items of interest..many for ourselves! We were excited to find a glass retail shelving unit...we think it will be perfect for our newly expanded booth at The Strip Mall.

Back to Friday. I picked out some Lladro figurines and a Frankoma decorative plate. Tim found a Wexford punch set, figurines, and an Imperial ruby-flashed glass from 1908. For ourselves, we got a small curio cabinet at a great price (Tim's already claimed it for displaying his Dragonware), two Cappelo prints for the kitchen, a tiny display case, a shepherd's hook for the garden, and some cat figurines.

Tim let me sleep in this morning while he went to an auction in the country. He bought some kitchenware, an enamelware chamber pot, some figurines (from small to quite large), and a vintage pitcher and glasses.

More later, but now we need to leave for Seneca...we've entered a Bonnie and Clyde poker tournament.

Stocking our wares...and poker, too!

Yesterday, we (mostly Tim) spent loads of time researching and pricing items from our recent auctions.

Today, we took three boxes of items to Copper Creek. We included a very nice carnival glass bowl, vintage cups and saucers, the funky dog bank, kitchen utensils, and much more. Copper Creek is a stop on this weekend's Route 66 Cruisers' Poker Run, so we hope the event will generate some additional traffic.

This afternoon, we're taking a load to The Strip Mall, too. We tend to put our nicer items at this location, and so far we've done pretty well. We will take some milk glass, Fenton carnival glasses, and other pretties.

I'm actually finishing this post Friday morning...We took the items to The Strip Mall, then went to Afton, Oklahoma, for the Thursday night auction. We saw a few things we could use around the house, but not enough to justify staying out in the heat for them.

So we decided to go to Seneca for their Thursday poker tournament...Tim went out fairly early with pocket kings cracked by pocket queens, but I miraculously stayed in and finished third! It did make for a long night, since we're now up to go to the Friday auction in Joplin, Missouri...

We're not in Kansas anymore...

Today we were in Columbus, Kansas for our first visit to the Monday afternoon auction. As is often the case, we bought more than we intended, but had a good time despite the heat  We haven't had a chance to go through our purchases yet, but here are a few items we found:
  • a printer's tray (I thinking of keeping this for my growing miniature collection;
  • a plate display shelf (another prospective display piece for us);
  • beer memorabilia;
  • a glass rolling pin;
  • a vintage dog and cart planter (the picture at right is from Ebay);
  • a newer dog bank (very unusual);
  • some Fenton glass;
  • doilies; and
  • much, much more!
Tomorrow we are to pick up the remainder of our Sunday purchases, do lots of cleaning, sorting, and research, and take lots of pictures! Perhaps we'll even get a few more items listed on Bonanzle.com.

More stuff from Sunday's auction...

We've spent a bit of time hitting the books and the internet, researching other things we bought today. Among our finds:
  • two vintage Anchor Hocking Hobnail cookie jars;
  • a nested set of three colored Candlewick ashtrays;
  • a number of vintage shoe clips;
  • vintage kitchen utensils (including a hand egg beater I'm keeping for myself); and
  • three old curling irons (the kind you heated on a stove).
There is much more for us to go through, but I was pretty excited...hope you find it interesting, too!

P.S. We just made our first Bonanzle.com sale!

Sunday, Sunday...

Carl Junction, Missouri was the site of today's auction. There were several auctions to choose from today, but I think we did pretty well.

The first indicator of success might be sheer quantity of purchases...in that, we definitely hit paydirt. We filled the back of our SUV and are going back on Tuesday for the remainder!

The second measure of success is quality. We feel that we also did pretty well in that. Of particular interest are six blue Fenton carnival glass tumblers. Four are in excellent condition, unfortunately two more were chipped.

Westmoreland glass made up several of our other purchases. We got a lattice edged bowl, an ivy ball vase, and a old quilt patterned tray.

And strawberries...strawberries abounded in this estate. We bought strawberry canisters, framed pictures, needlepoint, and plaques, salt and pepper shakers, all kinds of strawberry items.  I certainly hope we find a collector or two with a passion for berries!

Jewelry from a separate estate made up another collection at today's auction...we seriously considered purchasing a large lot, but decided that we just weren't knowledgeable enough to handle it.  I, however, picked up a few pieces for myself.

We also purchased a unique bookcase...it's metal, but has glass fronts on two of the three shelves. Currently a very scratched silver, a paint job is in order!

It was a beautiful bright afternoon, and we both got too much sun. Despite the residual soreness, it was a great way to spend an afternoon!

Jane's lazy day

I slept most of the day away, but Tim went to an auction, which was disappointing. He bought just one box, which turned out to be a loss. On the up side, however, he stopped at a yard sale and bought a small wall curio for my growing miniature collection.

Friday morning auction and more...

We went to our usual Friday morning auction in Joplin, Missouri, and spent less than usual. Tim got a carnival glass piece and a cool cast iron train. I bought a partial case of A&W Root Beer mugs, some Coca-Cola glasses, and a couple of miniature frogs for my own collection. We missed out on some glassware as the bidding went too high for us, but that's often the way auctions work, isn't it?

After the auction, we had tacos at a local taqueria then hit a couple of thrift stores. We hit Frankoma heaven at the Goodwill store, picking up about 40 pieces, plus a large set of FireKing stacking mugs. Hope it turns out to be a good deal!

I'll write more later, but it's time to get ready for tonight's Rascal Flatts concert!

First Posting

Jane here...I'll be doing most of the posting...Tim spends more computer time doing research and other Important Stuff.

We went to an auction in Afton, Oklahoma tonight...It was a bit of a disappointment, but we managed to find a few things we couldn't live without. I picked up a  vintage opaque projector that supposedly still works...I swear it will come in handy for some crafting projects!  Tim found some Sapphire Blue custard cups for his own collection. We also bought some more vintage glassware and a set of Pillsbury Doughboy dolls, probably from the 70's.  I will post pictures once we get them researched and listed.

Look for our items at Bonanzle.com! And if you're every in northeastern Oklahoma, stop by one of our booths (see our bio for more info).
